If he does his business, brag about him, give him a reward and really show him how exciting it is to flush the toilet and watch the mess go away (even you don’t enjoy it that much).

Brag about him (in front of him) to his grandparents, your wife and even his older brothers and/or sisters (if they’re the supportive type).

“Wow! you went to the potty just like your big brother! you’re a big boy!!”… usually works pretty well.

If this is your first child, that’s okay. You can still do this. Make sure he feels like he is getting “BIG”.

3. Having trouble teaching him to pee standing up? That is quite normal. Boys are excited to realize that they can push their pee, and it may seem fun to them, but at first they have no control over it.

Potty training boys is a problem here because it can get a little messy.

To help him, give him a goal and try to make him aim for it. This makes it more of a game, and games equal fun!

Cheerio works well, but there are even targets you can buy that sit on the toilet, have a fun picture on them and a little hole for them to aim at.
