Frugal Living Tips – Ways To Live Cheaper
Learn how to save your hard-earned cash with these frugal living tips. You don’t have to use them all, but choosing at least one will save you money!
Bills – do we need everything we pay for?
Do we need every movie channel our cable or satellite company offers? Are we paying for five Netflix movies at once when we only watch three? Are we getting the best deal on car or home insurance? Do we need such a big house or three cars?
It’s important to evaluate each bill you pay and make sure you really need it. Can you cut your cable bill in half? Call for an auto and home insurance estimate to see if you can save money. If only two people drive in the family, do you really need three cars? Can you get by with one?
Ask yourself these and other questions to understand what you really need, not what just makes you feel better.
Buy and sell used
Don’t throw away the lamp you don’t like. Try selling it on eBay or Craigslist, and if that doesn’t work, donate it to a charity like the Salvation Army or Goodwill, or to your local church.
Instead of running to the showroom when you need new furniture or home decor, look at flea markets and garage sales. Not only can you find an expensive sofa for half the price of new and only six months old, but you’ll also save the item from ending up in the landfill!
Pay!
Plan a budget and stick to it. You’ll feel better than you can imagine if you have no credit card debt. And when you pay off your credit card debt, you can move on to more. What if you no longer have auto debt or home equity debt? How much stress will it reduce in your life?
Pay off the smallest bills first, then use that money to pay off your larger debt and so on (while making the minimum monthly payments) and see how quickly you can pay off your debt!
The best feeling in the world comes from buying a big ticket item with cash and knowing you won’t have to pay anyone interest.
Go meatless!
Another of the simplest tips for frugal living is to eliminate meat from your diet at least once a week. While this may not sound like much fun, especially for the meat and potatoes crowd, you might be surprised at what meat-free meals you can come up with!
Some great meatless meal ideas are beans and cornbread, a baked potato dinner, cheese quesadillas, or vegetable soup. Think about the meals your family enjoys, and you might be surprised to find more than one meat-free dish in your recipe file!
Remember, as Benjamin Franklin said, “A penny saved is a penny earned!”
