Reading the Bible in 90 Days is Easier Than You Thought

If you’ve ever been around a Christian or in a church, you’ve probably heard someone say, “I read that in the Bible” or “That’s a passage from the Bible.” Many people seem to know parts of the Bible, but how often do you come across someone who has actually read the entire Bible? This is the ambition of many people, but it seems so impossible and so high a task that many do not undertake it. At the beginning of each year, many Christians want to read the entire Bible in a year, and some in six months, but because a year, even six months, is such a long time, things happen, life happens, most of them end up giving up on their ambition. Ted Cooper, Jr. thought about these facts when he came up with The Bible in 90 Days. He came up with this curriculum to make it easier for people to read the entire Bible. If you look at the way he laid it out, it’s a lot easier than you think.

First of all, the Bible in 90 days is written in the new international version (niv), so it is written in “modern” language and is very easy to understand. Second, it’s only reading 12 pages a day. Everyone has time for this, no matter how busy they are. If you think about it, you probably already do this in between reading a newspaper, a magazine or a book on the nightstand. Third, it’s only 90 days of your time! When you consider that there are 365 days in a year and most people live around 80 years, that’s 29,200 days, and you’re only using 90 to complete a task that was once thought impossible!

However, you should be careful. Even though it’s only 90 days out of the 365 we have in a year, making the commitment to do it isn’t easy. Things come up, there are days when you don’t feel like doing it, and people get busy. Being even a day behind makes it feel like you’ll never be able to catch up. The good thing is that Ted Cooper Jr. included 2 “soft” days in his Read Bible in 90 days plan for a period of reading that can help you catch up. Also, with twelve pages a day, if you’re behind and need to catch up, you can always do 24 pages the next day or 18 pages over the next two days to catch up, so don’t worry, there’s room to work, if need be, but please try to stick to the schedule as you don’t want to put yourself under pressure. Like I said, it’s not easy, but if you commit to it and read the Bible in 90 days, it’s worth it. This will accomplish the goal you set. This is something that seems tall and difficult, but it can be achieved. Think of the sense of accomplishment you’ll feel knowing you’ve managed to read the most published book of all time in just 90 days. Have someone do it with you to keep you motivated. Hold someone accountable for this task. Do your best to complete it. You won’t regret it. You don’t have to use the 90 day Bible to accomplish this task, you can use a different Bible, but studies have shown that people who use a different Bible tend not to finish reading.
